Bhola Reserve Gas

A large gas reserve was discovered in Bhola

" Energizing Bangladesh: Bhola's New Gas Reserve Promises Bright Future "

A new gas reserve has been found in Bhola amid the fuel shortage and elevated global fuel prices. The significant reserve was discovered at Bhola North Well No. 2, according to Mohammad Ali, a director of the Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Limited, who announced it on Monday.

He claimed that the well was pumping 20 million cubic feet of gas per day and that it would take 72 hours to confirm how much gas had been deposited in the well. With 10 of the 43 wells in Bangladesh's 22 gas fields having the capacity to produce more than 20 million cubic feet per day, the new reserve in Bhola is one of the biggest in the nation. The reserve is expected to ease the fuel crisis and provide a much-needed boost to Bangladesh's energy sector, where natural gas accounts for more than 80% of its energy mix.

On December 5, Ali stated, "We began drilling." "At a depth of 3,528 meters, we discovered a significant amount of gas quickly." According to Ali, the drilling rig was provided by Gazprom, a Russian state energy company, and BAPEX designed the well. Gazprom will also contribute to constructing the infrastructure following the agreement. Gazprom will be paid a contractual fee but will not own the gas; "It has nothing else to do here."

3,700 billion cubic feet of gas are needed daily in Bangladesh. At 2,722 million cubic feet on Monday, 489 million cubic feet of that total were LNG imports. With the agreement, Gazprom will be paid a contractual fee for constructing the necessary infrastructure and providing the 3,700 billion cubic feet of natural gas required daily in Bangladesh. Bhola is not connected to the national transmission pipelines of Bangladesh's Gas Transmission Company Limited. The gas satisfies local demand by going to nearby power plants.

The government is considering how to connect Bhola to the national transmission lines. The agreement between Gazprom and Bangladesh is considered by many to be a great success, as it not only provides for the local needs of Bhola but also ensures a secure source of natural gas for power plants across Bangladesh. The connection of Bhola to the national transmission pipelines will be a key step in ensuring that natural gas from the Gazprom-Bangladesh agreement is available to power plants in other parts of the country.
