" Empowering Bangladesh's Youth: Ragib Ehsan's Affordable ARM SOC-Based Computer Revolution "
Ragib Ehsan has made his Prototype of an (ARM) Advanced RISC Machine, (SOC) System On a Chip-based computer with fully open-sourced software (It looks like windows, but it is running on a derivative of Debian) for the first time. So many youths in Bangladesh are becoming Tech entrepreneurs by improving their knowledge about Information Technology and Computer literacy.
Computer literacy
Computer literacy and digital literacy are the most important things for the people of every developing and developed country. Digital Technologies are the unbeatable power for this time. It has the power to transform societies around the world. Digital technology offers infinite advantages to improve human well-being but also threatens to deprive those who cannot use it. Everything depends on how it is deployed and used. In Bangladesh, people know about digital technologies through mobile phones and mobile internet. It has opened the possibilities for digitized services businesses and information exchange. Though there are so many obstacles, Bangladeshi youths are growing and gathering a vast amount of knowledge and they are doing their best in the fields.
Tech Entrepreneurs
Tech Entrepreneurs build businesses that are organized by technology and innovation which aim to solve authentic customer problems. And tech entrepreneurship is about creating technology no matter what the size or criteria. Whether a web development firm, e-commerce business, SaaS application, digital marketing agency, or only a person becoming a successful tech entrepreneur. When someone wants to be a Tech Entrepreneur he must be highly focused, disciplined, properly planned, and under perfect guidance.
Bangladeshi youths are focusing on innovative ideas in the technology sector and setting up for launching their business. Not only that they are also concerned about the technical business plan, source and funding, registering a Tech business, Patent, managing, marketing, etc. Not only the youths but also the guardians, society, and peer groups everyone is supporting. Though Tech Entrepreneur is not a familiar term to everyone, everyone contributes a vast amount to grow together. There are so many stories of rising stars of our countries who are doing so much innovative work. Here is the story of Ragib Ehsan.
Ragib Ehsan
Dhaka, Bangladesh
(Associate Operations Officer, Netsoc at Ontario Tech University)
Computer literacy is one of the most vital components necessary for survival in this generation and too many among us are starved of this skill depriving them of the ability to acquire formal jobs forcing them into the informal economy.
According to the BRAC Institute of governance and development, only 2 out of 6500 rural households in Bangladesh have access to computers and computer literacy.
For the past five years, I have dreamt of finding a system to improve access to computer literacy for those without the privilege of this access. With the knowledge and skills have acquired in the last five years along with tremendous support and knowledge from my friends, (especially Shadman Ishraq, Shamya Dey, Aswad Akter, Atiq Iqbal, Zarrin Tasneem), investment from Baba Ahsan Ul Haque Helal I'm happy to announce that I have completed a huge step towards my dream.
This is my first prototype of an ARM SOC-based computer with fully open-sourced software (It looks like windows, but it is running on a derivative of Debian). With the cheapest laptops in Bangladesh coming at around 30 thousand BDT, my solution altogether costs 10 thousand BDT.
Looking for all of your prayers, support, and suggestions in this journey.
