The Regional Climate Summit 2023, a pioneering event in the fight against climate change, was successfully held from September 8th to 10th at Hotel Sheraton, Dhaka. Organized by Climate Parliament Bangladesh in collaboration with The Earth Society, Climate Parliament, ORF, and supported by a host of strategic partners, the summit aimed to bolster regional efforts in combating climate change and enhancing climate resilience within South Asia.

The three-day event saw an unprecedented gathering of 1,118 delegates from across South Asia, including Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, as well as representatives from the global north. This diverse group of policymakers, scientists, experts, and stakeholders engaged in critical discussions across various thematic sessions. Topics of discussion ranged from renewable energy and plastic policy to water management and financing climate action, highlighting the multifaceted approach needed to address climate challenges.

A central theme of the summit, 'Towards a Resilient South Asia', underscored the vital importance of regional cooperation in climate change mitigation. The assembly emphasized the collective responsibility of South Asian nations in devising and implementing innovative solutions to combat the adverse effects of climate change.

Highlighting the summit were special dialogues on enhancing regional energy cooperation and the crucial role of youth in climate action. These discussions, alongside a series of side events focusing on legislative action and international agreements, deepened the dialogue and showcased the dynamic nature of climate policy and action.
