CT SCAN OF BRAIN

CLINICAL INFORMATIONS:

Headache.

TECHNIQUE:

5 mm infratentorial & 05 mm supratentorial contiguous axial sections of the brain were obtained without I/V contrast administration and coronal & sagittal MPR images.

FINDINGS:*

     Multiple areas of different sizes and attenuation are seen at bilateral basal ganglia-parietal regions.

     Moderate generalized degenerative atrophy with secondary dilatation of ventricles, prominent sulci & Sylvian fissures.

     Multiple tiny low-density areas are seen at bilateral basal ganglia & parietal regions, lacunar infarcts most likely.

     Patchy low attenuated areas are seen in the deep white matter at bilateral periventricular regions & at centrumsemiovale; demyelination most likely.

     No evidence of intra or extra axial hematoma, contusion or mass.

     No pressure effect or contralateral shifting of midline structures.

  • Pituitary region: No lesion at para, supra or intrasellar region.
  • Posterior fossa: No mass at brain stem, cerebellum or at CP angle.
  • No mass/lesion is noticed at initial course of the CNs.

IMPRESSION:

  • Multiple infarcts of different ages at bilateral basal ganglia-parietal regions.
  • Moderate age related degenerative atrophy of the brain with evidence of demyelination & lacunar infarcts.
